Selection Criteria
MCPS staff are currently evaluating the screening procedures for high school application programs. During first year of the pandemic, no external exam and no teacher recommendations were utilized in the screening process as they had been in the past. A central decision was made to keep these changes in place through the 2022-23 school year. As a result, students entering the Blair Magnet for the 2023-24 school year will be accepted on the basis of:
· demonstrated interest in mathematics, science, computer science, and technology
· academic achievement in Grades 7 and 8
· scores on the MAP-M exam
