Have a great summer!
Please read this entire newsletter carefully as there is important information regarding updates to the grading and reporting policy, as well as detailed information about MCPS’ implementation of the Maryland Phone-Free School Act (HB 525). In alignment with this legislation, Montgomery County Public Schools will be restricting the use of cell phones during school hours. Effective the first day of school, August 24, 2026, all students are not permitted to utilize personal mobile devices (cell phones, tablets, e-readers, personal laptops, smart watches, smart glasses, and anything with a microphone, camera, speaker, or headphones/earbuds (including AirPods) during the instructional day. This includes during lunch and in the hallways as students transition to class.
Additionally, MCPS is taking a firmer stand on students skipping class, leaving campus, and attempting to return. Students who leave campus without permission during the instructional day will not be permitted to attend classes for the remainder of the school day and will be subject to either in school suspension or out of school suspension based on progressive discipline.
Rising Seniors: For information about how to get a parking permit for the 2026-27 school year, please check your email for a message from Dr. Fields.
